Scream VI: Ghostface Strikes Back in New Trailer Ahead of March 8 Releas
The new trailer for Scream 6 features Melissa Barrera and her friends fighting off Ghostface. Horror movies have seen significant box office success in recent years, with films like Smile bringing in over 216 million against a budget of $17 million, Scream bringing in over 140 million on a budget of $24 million, and Terrifier 2 grossing nearly 15 million on a budget of $250,000.
It is expected that the year 2023 will be another extension of the supremacy of this type of film, as the female version of Chucky, M3GAN, has achieved nearly 160 million so far.
Scream VI's producers attempted to keep up the momentum and build on the success of its predecessors. The movie was made and shot at a fast pace with the goal of hitting theaters just 14 months after the release of Scream 5, which is a bit shorter when compared to the 12 months between the first and second Scream.
Scream VI: The Return of Ghostface.
The latest installment continues the franchise's promotional advantage and teases the return of Ghostface. A trailer for Scream VI hinted at the killer's arrival in New York. In a nod to Super Bowl timing, the masked killer reappeared in a recent video.
After a fairly classic escape scene that makes its protagonists dizzy, this trailer focuses more on the stakes of the upcoming film. We quickly understand that the victims seem determined to bite the dust to the murderer (s), obviously admiring (s) of the former incarnations of Ghost Face (cf. the plan of the altar). As for Sam, everything suggests that she will impose herself as the new Sidney Prescott (the heroine played by Neve Campbell does not return in Scream 6, unless HUGE surprise).
As a reminder, Scream VI is directed by the duo Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett (who had officiated on Scream 5). They are not the only ones to return since Courteney Cox, Jenna Ortega, Jasmin Savoy Brown and of course Hayden Panettiere (left for dead in Scream 4) will be there.
We have only a few weeks left to wait before knowing the identity of the executioners and survivors of the carnage to come. Will New York become the new El Dorado for Ghostface? Will Scream 6 be better than the heated Scream 5? Will we be entitled to the Scream version of Friday the 13th, chapter 8: The Final Return (Jason Takes Manhattan)?
Answer to all these questions this March 8, 2023, date of the theatrical release of Scream VI.
